Senior Research Scientist / Research Scientist (Climate Projections and Extremes) at the Meteorological Service Singapore

The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS), a division of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), is offering an exciting job opportunity for a scientist with a strong background in AI/ML and its application to climate, as well as good knowledge of climate variability and change in the tropics with focus on Southeast Asia. As part of the Department of Climate Research (DCR), the Climate Projections and Extremes Branch (CPEB) focuses on climate processes relevant to Singapore and the Southeast Asian region and developing next generation high resolution regional climate change projections for its stakeholders. A core component of the work is the application of AI/ML methods for climate and climate change time scales, especially as part of the new AI-based production of high-resolution regional climate change projections.

Call for Postdoctoral Scientist applications in Africa with WCRP Core project RIfS

The Regional Information for Society (RIfS) is offering two postdoc positions to contribute to our activities in Africa. The postdocs will work collaboratively to support the core foci of the RIfS Africa action in the CLARE Programme, under supervision of the host institutions in Africa with oversight by the RIfS Africa Science Officer and the RIfS Africa Task Team. These fellowships are designed to contribute to improving our understanding of the use and challenges of climate information for climate adaptation in Africa.

Postdoc 1: Climate services and stakeholder engagement. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field that includes engagement with decision makers. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the core activities of the project in relation to how climate information is accessed, used, and adopted in climate adaptation decision making.

Postdoc 2: Robust climate information for adaptation. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field of physical climate science. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the activities in relation to the generation, analysis, and construction of robust regional climate information for adaptation.

ESA Living Planet Fellowship call for proposals 2025

ESA invites young researchers in ESA Member States to submit scientific proposals to the Living Planet Fellowship Call 2025. The LPF aims at supporting the new generation of scientists in ESA Member States to undertake cutting-edge research in Earth Observation and Earth System and Climate Science that may maximise the scientific impact of ESA missions and European EO capacity and respond to the main challenges of the new ESA Earth Observation Science Strategy.

Deadline for submissions (Step 1): 14 November 2025

Postdoctoral Scientist at Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, Germany

The MPI-M invites applications for a 3-year position as a Postdoctoral Scientist within the CLICCS project to investigate the impact of tropical deforestation on precipitation under a warming climate making use of km-scale climate simulations. The project aims to advance our fundamental understanding of the processes that control the tropical precipitation distribution, with a particular emphasis on the resilience of tropical precipitation to perturbations. To that aim, simulations will be conducted using the ICON Earth System Model in its Sapphire configuration, using a grid spacing of 10-km (or finer). Past research has shown that precipitation in this type of simulation is much more resilient to deforestation over the Amazon, at least in present-day climate, questioning the existence of a tipping behavior of the Amazon forest.

Scientist to review marine biogeochemical observing requirements and use them to feed ocean metrics at the Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences

The Large-Scale Processes Team of the Department of Marine Chemistry & Biogeochemistry at the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN) is offering a fixed- term, full-time scientist position in the field of marine biogeochemistry defined by Biogeochemical Essential Ocean Variables (BGC EOVs). The position is funded by the Horizon Europe BioGeoSea project. The overall aim of BioGeoSea is to significantly close the gaps in the GOOS BGC EOVs, validate them, and use them to feed ocean metrics in the form of indicators and data products that reflect their relevance to the society. This aim includes significantly updating BGC EOV Specification Sheets (SS) to enhance their usefulness for a variety of identified stakeholders. It also includes engaging with the World Meteorological Organization’s processes, ensuring that requirements for BGC EOV observations are embedded in the WMO Integrated Global Observing System.

Deadline for applications: 21 November 2025
